I know that many of the members at Decoy Field knew the late Neil Hopkins who passed away in May last year. Members from other fields knew him from social events where his honey was always available or from their visits to the shop at Decoy where he was on the shop rota. If you read the June and September Newsletters you will be aware that members at Decoy Field requested that we set up a donation box to raise money for a memorial.
The loss of any family member is a shock to the rest of the family and I know that Neil’s wife Kerry and his son Steven have been through a difficult period, mourning the loss of a man that was very special to so many people.
I have today received a letter from Kerry and Steve which she has asked that I share with the members.

Letter From Kerry & Steve Hopkins
Steve and I wish to thank all concerned for the wonderful tribute paid to Neil, this being the purchase of a bench.
The bench has been placed in a prominent position so that people may sit, chat, remember the past and enjoy the present.
The brass plaque has words showing pure respect for Neil. He loved his bees, his allotment and the people around him. He had a great sense of humour and enjoyed the funny moments he had on the field.
We would like to think that Neil is still keeping his beady eye on everything.
Thank you all so very much.
Kerry & Steve Hopkins
