NADCAA 2022 AGM

The AGM will be held at the Newton Abbot Recreational Club in Marsh Road on July 9th 2022 at 7.30 PM.

With Covid-19 still circulating, we invite members that will NOT be attending this event to have their say at the AGM using this proxy voting form. We have listed the motions and resolutions below so that all you have to do is vote For, Against or Abstain. The Chairman does not normally have a vote unless there is a split decision, but under these circumstances he can vote on your behalf using the proxy voting form below. The votes will be counted and independently verified before the meeting.

Reminder

All members have a vote, it is your democratic right and a hard fought for one which every member should excercise. Those who don’t vote cannot criticise the decisions of those that do.

Item 2 - Annual Plot Rents For 2023

As a Self-Managed Association our current plot rents are considerably less than council run sites and many other Self-Managed Associations.

As is being widely reported inflation in the UK is now at its highest level for 30 years. The Association is not immune from these cost increases.

Our field rents and other underlying annual expenses follow the retail price index which (at the time of writing) is currently running at 11.1%  and tipped to rise further as the year progresses.

This year insurance costs have increased and if we do have a hot summer as predicted, then our water costs are likely to return to, or even exceed, the high level of 2020.

The National Allotment Society (NAS) recommends that Self-Managed Associations retain a reserve that is equivalent to the annual rental income. In recent years there have been no additions made to our reserve and the committee believe that it would be prudent to progressively build the reserve back to the level recommended by the NAS.

The committee will continue to seek grants and other financial support for projects and initiatives but some level of top up from general funds is usually required.

Prudent management of finances has enabled the Association to improve site facilities and amenities for members including the trial of a portaloo on Coach Road Field this summer.
